Victor Willis is an American singer, songwriter along with an actor who’s known to function as the first member of Village People, a disco group a nonexistent theory group. The group that released many tunes had a few smashing hits, mostly “In Hollywood (Everybody is a Star)” and “San Francisco (You’ve Got Me)”. Their success and popularity was growing day by day with more hit songs coming out one after another. Tunes like “In the Navy” and “Macho Man” was making the top position in graphs and in the meanwhile, a feature film premiered in 1980 by the name of Can Not Stop the Music about the group. The movie’s failure and record as “among the largest flops” had not been as disheartening as the departure of Willis from the group. A year after, he left the group and not returned back. He was born as the son of a preacher dad, who was a Baptist. He was raised in a middle class family, and from a young age was really interested into music. With his unique singing abilities, his dad made him sing the choir in church and he also learned music including acting, in his school. After graduation, he went to Nyc to pursue a livelihood, and began to work at the Negro Ensemble Company. Hanging around theatre companies, he began to feature in a few musical plays, and also appeared in several stage shows. After leaving the Village People, he was quiet for long time until news came about him possessing drugs in his area. He was detained for keeping prohibited medications and narcotics, and after confronting specific probation was ordered to attend the Betty Ford Clinic, for rehabilitation.
