Lohia brought in his estimated net worth of $3.4 billion by creating a fundamental component used to make plastic bottles. He is the Creator and Chairman of Indorama Corporation, a diversified petrochemical and textile company, and Chairman of Indorama Ventures PCL, the largest maker of polyester or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin on the planet. Also known as SP Lohia, he moved to Indonesia along with his dad and started Indorama Synthetics which began to fabricate spun yarns in 1976. He was later joined by his younger brother Anil Prakash Lohia, also called Alok or Aloke. In 1991, the business diversified by manufacturing polyester fibers and later, polyester resins in 1995. In 2006, Lohia commissioned the first PTA plant of Indorama in Thailand. In 2009, the founder and his brother merged their assets to create Indorama Ventures. It went public in 2010 and is listed on the Bangkok Stock Exchange. In February 2012, the business purchased the U.S. compound department of Old World Industries Inc. In addition, it includes a very lucrative Nigerian unit. His son, Amit, runs the Indonesian and African companies from Singapore. His younger brother, Aloke, is responsible of the company from Thailand as its CEO.
