Ryan Kesler began his minor hockey career with all the Detroit’s Midwest Elite Hockey League teams including the Honeybaked, Little Caesars and Compuware. He played for his dad’s team, Livonia Hockey Association bantam team after he did not made it to the AAA team. After remaining for just two seasons together with the team, he accepted the scholarship at Ohio State University and play college hockey. He was likewise named Ohio State’s George Burke Most Valuable Freshman award. He was selected 23rd overall by the Vancouver Canucks during the NHL Entry Draft in 2003.
