Russell Martin played for theNotre Dame de Grce andPolyvalente douard-Montpetit’s baseball team. In junior college, he chose a scholarship at Chipola College. He was chosen by the Montreal Expos as a 35th round pick during the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft however he preferred not to sign with the team. A couple of years later, he was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as a 17th round of the drafting process. He became a professional baseball player when he joined the Gulf Coast Dodgers. Martin has played with several minor league teams for example Ogden Raptors, Class A South Georgia Waves, Vero Beach Dodgers, Scottsdale Scorpions, and Triple-A Las Vegas 51s. Martin eventually played for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006. During his stint for the team, he received the Gold Glove, Tip O’ Neill and Silver Slugger award in 2007. After four years with the Dodgers, Russell moved to New York Yankees in 2011. In the span of 133 games for the Yankees, he hit .211 with 21 home runs, and 53 RBI. Martin left the team for Pittsburgh Pirates in the year 2012. Following a short stay with all the team, Russell transferred to Toronto Blue Jays in 2015.
