Luiz Felipe Scolari became a football player for a number of teams which include the Caxias, Juventude, Novo Hamburgo, and CSA. In 1982, he retired from playing in the field, and was made as the CSA manager. During his first season together with the team, they won the Alagoano state tournament. Eventually, he moved to other teams such as Juventude, Brasil de Pelotas, and Al Shabab. Luiz had a two-year stint in Al-Qadisiya Kuwait and won the enviable Kuwait Emir Cup in 1989. Scolari had a brief stay with all the Kuwait national team. Luiz did handle other teams including Coritiba, Criciuma, Al Ahli, Gremio, Jubilo Iwata, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro, Brazil, Portugal, Chelsea, Bunyodkor, and Guangzhou Evergrande.
