She’s the daughter of the delayed Samsung founderLee Byung-Chul. Lee Myung-Hee’s husband, Chung Jae-Eun, serves as the Shinsegae’s honorary Chairman after the latter has passed his shares to his children in 2006. At first, the firm was a part of the Samsung Group. Later on, Shinsegae divided from the group together with the Hansol Group, Saehan Group and CJ Group. The group possesses the brands E Mart and Shinsegae. Considered as South Korea’s largest retailer, Shinsegae is in rough competition withHyundai Department Store Groupand Lotte Shopping.Just recently, Shinsegae took over theSeoul Express Bus Terminal with extensive plans for long term development.
