His golf career started at Franklin-Simpson High School subsequently played on the golf team at Lone Oak High School. He went to attend Western Kentucky University. He got his big break in 1987 with a T4 finish in the Panasonic Las Vegas Invitational. He also competed for the Champions Tours.
