She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo then her J.D. degree at Albany Law School in 1975. Jeanine Ferris served as an Assistant District Attorney in Westchester County in 1978 and then became the first female to serve as a judge in Westchester County Court. She was also the first female District Attorney in 1993. In 1997, Judge Pirro was made as Chair of the New York State Commission on Domestic Violence Fatalities. The report and recommendations from the commission resulted in laws passing that enriched protections of, and safeguards for, the casualties of domestic abuse. On August 10, 2005, Judge Jeanine Pirro declared that she’d seek the Republican nomination to challenge first-term incumbent and Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2006 election for the U.S. Senator from New York. Jeanine also went for the job of Attorney General but she was unsuccessful in both races. Judge Pirro is a frequent contributor to The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. On May 5, 2008, CW announced that she’d host a weekday television show to be named Judge Jeanine Pirro. Also referred to as Judge Pirro since its second season premier, it is an American arbitration-based reality court show which debuted on September 22, 2008. The show has won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program before its cancellation in 2011.
