John Lynch played football and basketball for Torrey Pines High School. In school, he joined Stanford Cardinal football team as a quarterback. While with the team, he was named to the first team All-Pac 10 selection and earned the second-team All American honors. He entered the NFL Draft in 1993 and was selected as the next round, 82nd overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lynch played together with the team for 11 seasons, and won the Super Bowl XXXVII against Oakland Raiders in 2003. Lynch was released the following as a result of the salary cap reason. Lynch signed a free agent contract with the Denver Broncos. During his stint, he served as the team’s defensive captain in 2006 and 2007. John had a one-year handle the New England Patriots on August 13, 2008, but on September 1 of the exact same year, he was released by the team. On November 17, 2008, he formally announced his retirement. John Terrence Lynch, Jr. was born on September 25, 1971 in Hinsdale, Illinois. Six days after Lynch ended his career as a football player, he joined the NFL on Fox as a color commentor.
