American record executive Jerry Moss has an estimated net worth of $800 million. He is best known as the cofounder of A&M Records along with trumpeter and bandleader Herb Alpert. Jerome graduated with a degree in English from Brooklyn College. Jerome also had a stint in the military. His music career began when he encouraged the16 Candles hit for the group The Crest on Coed Records. In 1962, he and Alpert formed Carnival Records after Moss moved to California in 1960. The two ran the business from an office in Alpert’s garage. However, they found out that the name was already taken so they renamed their new-found business A&M Records. A&M Records was bought by PolyGram and the two went to form a new record label, Almo Sounds, in 1994. The label nevertheless continues to run now. In 2006, Moss and Alpert were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as nonperformers.
