Heath Miller played for the Honaker Tigers football team as a quarterback. Heath was a recipient of the Associated Press Player of the Year and Region D Offensive Player of the Year awards. Heath earned the AP All-State choice twice. In college, he joined the Virginia Cavaliers football in 2001. Eventually, Miller began taking the tight end position. During his three seasons together with the team, he won the John Mackey Award and earned the Consensus All-America in 2004. Miller decided to forgo his eligibility to NFL Draft.He entered the 2005 NFL Draft as the initial round, 30th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
