Born on February 22, 1950 in Santos, Sao Paolo, Brazil, Leal earned his estimated net worth of $1.8 billion as the co-chairman of the Board of Managers of Natura. He also possesses 25% shares in the leading producer and marketer of skin care, solar filters, cosmetics, perfumes, and hair-care products in Brazil as well as seven other states in Latin America and in France. He joined the Brazil’s version of Avon in 1979 and played a crucial role in turning it into a multi-billion dollar company. With the increased demand of these products in Brazil, Natura’s shares were up in the past year and his bundle has increased by $200 million.
A grad of the University of Sao Paolo using a diploma in Business Administration, Guilherme Peirao Leal started his career in financial institutions and FEPASA. He was fired at the public company for fighting corruption before joining Natura. He is also the creator and board member of the Ethos Institute — Company and Responsibility, and also a member of the boards of WWF — Brazil along with the Brazilian Biodiversity Fund (FUNBIO). He encourages biodiversity and sustainable business practices. During the 2010 Brazilian presidential election, he ran as the Green Party candidate for Vice President along with Marina Silva but didn’t win.
