She perished on September 26, 2010 in Los Angeles California in the age of 100 due to respiratory failure. She subsequently visited the University of California, Berkeley where she majored in drama and philosophy. Nevertheless, she dropped out in her junior year to wed Blair Gordon Newell. She appeared in his movies including The Old Dark House, The Kiss Before the Mirror and The Invisible Man. She was an activist as well as a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). She soon got disappointed along with her career in Universal and made a decision to move to 20th Century Fox. Between late 1930s and early 1940s, she appeared in over forty movies, the majority of which were forgotten.
