During his stint with the school’s wrestling team, he holds the record for the most amount of falls with 82. In school, he joined the Kent State University wrestling team and won 121 career successes between 2000 to 2003. He was a three-time All-Mid American Conference champ which he received in 2000, 2002 and 2003. In 2004, he signed a contract with the World Wrestling Entertainment, was delegated to their developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling, and debuted as Nick Nemeth. Ziggler was called up at Raw after having a month, he then lost against Ken Doane. He was the enforcer and sidekick of Chavo Guerrero Jr. who used a golfer in-ring character named Kerwin White. Ziggler became part of a group known as The Spirit Squad in 2005 and adopted the name, Nicky. The following year, the group won the World Tag Team Championship against Kane and Big Show. Meanwhile, he returned to the OVW in 2007. Along with Mike Mondo of The Spirit Squad, they teamed up with fellow wrestler Mike Kruel and formed Frat Pack. Besides wrestling, Ziggler appeared often in Zack Ryder’s web series, Z! Accurate Long Island Story from 2011 to 2013.
