Ferry was inspired by his dad, Bob ferry who was also a NBA player to take up basketball as his profession. He attended Dematha Catholic high school where he excelled at basketball. During his high school years, he went to earn the name as among the countrys top high school basketball players. Danny Ferry was among the most sought after high school players by the universities. He registered at the Duke University and earned a degree in political science. He played basketball for 4 years at the Duke University. He was chosen twice to the first team all-America. He’s also the receiver of Naismith Award. Ferry was a part of the Dukes hall of fame in 2004. Ferry wasn’t thinking about playing for the Clippers and rather picked Il Messaggero team of the Italian League. He performed well in the league with a mean of 23 points.
