Cortland Finnegan played for Milton High School football team as safety and tailback. Cortland earned the second team All State as a senior. During his stint with the team, he recorded 22 passes in 403 yards, 65 tackles and averaged 3.4 yards per rush. In school, he joined the Samford Bulldogs football team. Meanwhile, he earned several honors like NFL Draft Report first-team All American, first-team All-OVC and third-team All-OVC. Finnegan was chosen as the seventh round, 215th overall pick by the Tennessee Titans during the 2006 NFL Draft. He was named as the 2009 Pro Bowl starter. After five seasons with the team, he signed a five-year contract with the St. Louis Rams. He ranked 93rd on the Top 100 Players of 2012. He moved to Miami Dolphins on March 14 2014 and was released by the team a year later. Finnegan announced his retirement on March 11, 2015.
