Cornelius Vanderbilt Net Worth $185 Billion
Vanderbilt brought in $100 landscaping his dad’s property when he was sixteen years of age. He used the funds to purchase a sail-boat, and started a passenger ferry company in New York Harbour. In 1812, he was given a military contract to supply supplies to garrisons along the Hudson River. From the mid 1840s, he managed more than 100 steamboats. In 1855, he started managing a transatlantic steamship company. In the 1860s, he caught the chance by buying railways in NYC. With enhancing service, and low fares for his customers, Vanderbilt allegedly made $25 million.
