Chris Gratton joined several hockey programs such Brantford Nodrofsky Steelers, and Brantford CKPC Knights. He also played for one season with all the Jr. B Brantford Classics. In 1991, he was picked as the 3rd overall pick in the OHL Priority Selection by the Kingston Frontenacs. During his stint with the Frontenacs, he received the Emms Family Award as rookie of the year. Gratton was selected as the 3rd overall pick during the 1993 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. After three seasons with all the team, he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1997.
