Chris was first drafted to the New York Yankees for the 2004 MLB Draft, but he opted to attend Navarro Junior College in Texas. After his stint with Navarro, he was again selected for MLB Draft in 2005 by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but he opted to not sign with the team. The next season, Davis was drafted for the third time, this time for the Texas Rangers. Chris started his minor league career with all the Northwest League’s Spokane Indians in 2006. During his two-season stint with all the minors, Davis played for other teams for example Bakersfield Blaze, Frisco RoughRiders, and Oklahoma RedHawks. In 2008, he began to play for the Rangers. He finished the 2011 season with all the team with a record of 24 home runs in 48 games. After three seasons with all the team, he was traded to Baltimore Orioles.
