Ulvaeus was born in 1945 in Gothenburg, Sweden. He studied law and company at Lund University. His singing journey started with Hootenanny Singers and met future ABBA band mate Benny Andersson while they were both doing concerts in 1966. They would later on meet Agnetha and Anni-Frid and team up to create the sensational pop group. Anni-Frid still works with Andersson after the group broke up in 1982. After his marriage to Agnetha flopped in 1980, Ulvaeus married entertainment journalist Lena Kallersjo in 1981. They reside in Stockholm.
