At the age of 15,Aroldis Chapman invited by a friend to join a local baseball team. In 2006, he joined the Cuban National Series League’s Holguin Sabuesos. He compiled a 24-19 win-loss record, with a 3.74 ERA and 365 strikeouts. He deserted from Cuba in 2009, while the Cuba national team participated in the World Port Tournament. Chapman agreed a long term contract with the Cincinnati Reds in 2010. During the 2014 season, he threw 15 fastballs above 100 miles per hour, and 106 strikeouts with 36 saves.
