Andrew McCutchen started to play baseball when he was an eight grader for Fort Meade High School. Besides baseball, he also played football and ran track. He signed a letter of intent to play football for the University of Florida, and as of the exact same time he was picked as the 11th overall pick in the 2005 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. McCutchen chose the starting place during the 2006 South Atlantic League’s All Star team. That same year, he was named as the Minor League Player of the Year. McCutchen called up to the major league in 2009. He was a three-time Silver Slugger awardee, and received the Gold Glove award in 2012. During the 2013 season, he won the National League MVP.
