Abe Vigoda first gained popularity among the American crowd through the play “Marat/Sade” in 1967. Nevertheless, he had to wait till 1972 before obtaining his first character in a movie. The first movie Vigoda could get a character in was the American crime film “The Godfather” where he played the character of a mobster named Salvatore Tessio.
